WINTER HIKING,
A wonderful experience
Plenty
of visitors in Val Gardena do not participate in the common winter
sports. Quite a large percentage in fact – that does not even
include elderly vacationers – come to recooperate in the fresh
air by hiking and jogging. During Winter in Val Gardena, there are
plenty of guided hikes offered. If one is interested, there are
intriguing facts about geology, history, fauna and flora to learn
about the valley.
Several suggestions for solitary Winter
walks in Val Gardena:
Ortisei/St.Ulrich – S. Cristina/St.Christina
– Selva Gardena/Wolkenstein
From the church to the promenade in Ortisei one can walk along the
old railroad all the way to the “Weinstube Stua Zirm”
(wine tasting facility). When you merge into the main street you
can either walk to S. Cristina (1 hour) or all the way to Selva
Gardena (about 2 hours), whatever you feel like.
“Troi Paián“
This forest path of bygone times binds the middle station of the
Seceda cable car and the Raschötzer Forststraße (about
1 hour). Walking time 1 hour untill merging with the Forststraße
and from there to Ortisei is another hour.
Alpe
di Siusi / SeiserAlm
50 km hiking distances are available in the high altitudes of the
famous Seiser Alm (a 5 minute cable car ride from Ortisei). This
is a uncomparably, beatifully sunny stretch through the Dolomite
landscape. Next to the pedestrian pathway there are other paths
that branch off to various guest facilities throughout the mountain
pastures. Because of the numerous paths and intersections one has
a lot of options as to where to wander.
